Friends of SJS

The ‘Friends’ of Sedbergh Junior School exist to extend the effective relationships between the parents and staff , whilst raising funds to support the school and advance the education of our children. Over the last few years the ‘Friends’ have funded many different items for the Junior School, as requested by parents, staff and children, from TeePees, to match kit, to outdoor play equipment.

We will be updating our webpage with this year’s events, funding project and fundraising status once this has been finalised by the ‘Friends’ members.

The Parents’ School Improvement Group (involving each Year Group Rep and The Headmaster only), will meet 30 minutes prior to the start of the Friends meeting.

Please do come along to any of our events. If you would like to help with any events or join the ‘Friends’ of Sedbergh Junior School’, please do get in touch with one of our members.

Family Fun Golf Afternoon

Sunday 25th September, 2011

On a sunny Sunday afternoon at Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal, the Friends of Sedbergh Junior School welcomed a number of families to the ‘Family Fun Golf Afternoon’. The 9-hole, 6 ball better ball competition provided some interest for fellow golfers and a good variety of shots and landing spots for those taking part. After sausages and chips, the winners were announced by organiser and ‘Friend’ member Carl Smith.

In 3rd place was Tom Radford (with Dad on the bag) and his Uncle Dennis, 2nd place was awarded to Daniel Holley with step-dad, Gary, and in 1st place Lewis Smith and his Auntie Susan, winning with a net 30. Everyone went home with a golf ball and Lewis was pleased to receive the winning prize of a Gopher golf club head cover. Thanks to Graham Curtin, Carus Green proprietor and Old Sedberghian for supporting the event. A great day and money once again raised for the Friends of Sedbergh Junior School fund. Perhaps a Sedbergh Open might be on the agenda for next year.
