VACANCY - PRE SCHOOL LEADER, THE MULBERRY BUSH (SEDBERGH PREP SCHOOL)

An excellent opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic nursery practitioner to join our team and lead the educational experience of the children aged between three and four years of age.

This is a full time position (42.5 hours per week) and the Mulberry Bush operates throughout the year. 

Key responsibilities
The nursery admits children from 6 months of age, and we are looking for an outstanding and experienced individual to lead the pre-school year group of children aged between 3 and 4 years. On a daily basis, the successful candidate will work with and lead another nursery practitioner. They will take responsibility for the room, the planning of activities, the allocation of key workers and for recording evidence of progress for their own nominated children through our online system.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum of a current Level 3 Childcare qualification.
- English and mathematics GCSE Grades C or above.
- Substantial experience of working with children under 5 years of age.
- A thorough understanding and knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Every Child Matters.
- The ability to both lead and work within a team.
- A passion for working in childcare!

VACANCY - HEAD OF GEOLOGY

It is hard to imagine a better place to teach Geology. 

Adam Sedgwick was born in Dent, only 6 miles from the School and was educated at Sedbergh School before becoming the first Professor of Geology at Cambridge.  The School sits on the boundary between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, in close proximity to outcrops of limestone, greywacke, slate and igneous intrusions.  Graptolites and brachiopods are easily found and there is a local abundance of good exposures.  The athletic, outdoor nature of the School, coupled with the time available through Boarding education means that fieldwork is both practical and welcome.

VACANCY – HOUSE CHEF

Sedbergh School are currently seeking a House Chef to work within the Boarding Houses in the School. Very much a valued and appreciated part of each team, the ideal candidate would be confident leading a team and overseeing the provision of varied and healthy meals for pupils and staff in the Boarding House with additional work at Sedbergh Summer School.

VACANCY – TRAINEE CHEF

Sedbergh School is seeking enthusiastic people who would like to start their careers as chefs. You will work alongside the Senior House Chef who will be responsible for your training. For those who have just completed college courses this will be an opportunity to further develop skills in modern cuisine and gain further qualifications with the goal of progressing quickly to becoming a deputy chef. For apprentices, we are offering the opportunity to train at Kendal College on a day release basis, while gaining practical experience. 

The ideal candidates would soon gain sufficient experience to have the confidence to cook breakfasts or prepare tea without direct supervision, and have the ambition to extend their careers further by becoming a House Chef once they have achieved the required experience and qualifications.  

You will be expected to work one of the two main shift patterns (06:30 AM to 2:30 PM) producing breakfast and delivering lunch with the Senior House Chef or working a later shift (11am to 7 PM) covering lunch and producing tea. Ideally you would work one day over a weekend but some individual needs can be met.
