Sedbergh Preparatory School have enjoyed recent success with both their Under-13 Girls' Hockey and Netball teams.

The Netball team successfully qualified for the National Finals whilst the Hockey team have progressed through to the North of England Finals for the first time in the Prep School’s history.

On Friday 1 March, Sedbergh Prep travelled to Uppingham to compete in the Regional Finals of the Under-13 IAPS Netball Competition. Taking on tough opposition made up of 20 prestigious Prep Schools from the North and Midlands, Sedbergh Prep topped their group. Winning three out of their four matches and drawing an enthralling encounter with Witham Hall 5-5, the team secured their place at the National Finals with an 8-6 quarter final victory over Beachborough. Sedbergh Prep now look forward to their trip to Epsom College on Friday 22 March for the opportunity to compete with the top 20 Prep Schools in the country this year.

On Monday 5 March, the Under-13 Hockey squad travelled down to Manchester to face the best schools in the North West. Every player gave their all and it showed in the results. The girls were unbeaten on the day, picking up impressive victories against St Mary’s Hall, Merchant Taylors and Manchester High School for Girls and two valuable draws against Wilmslow and Hill House.

This unbeaten run saw Sedbergh Prep finishing second in the table on 11 points, just 1 point behind table toppers Manchester High School for Girls on 12 points. This great performance means that Sedbergh Prep now move on to the Northern Finals, something the school has never achieved before at Under-13 level.

The Northern Finals take place on Tuesday 19th March at the University of Leeds and will see Sedbergh Prep compete against the strongest teams across the North of England.

Mrs Julia Rollins, Head of Girls’ Sport at Sedbergh Prep, has commented on the Girls’ recent successes. “We are a small Prep School, so recent results in both Girls' Hockey and Netball is not only an amazing success for the School, but also a testament to our talented pupils and the strength and depth in both teams”
