The Roger Lupton Scholarship Appeal was launched in 2012 in the hope that it would provide real ‘life changing’ opportunities for many years to come. Two factors were critical
to achieving this aim:
• The true and demonstrable need of the recipients
• A long term commitment from the School

The School made the necessary commitment and the early success of the programme led to the SpringBoard Bursary Foundation asking Sedbergh to become their first partner school in the north of England. Working with SpringBoard and their associated local charities in areas of urban deprivation in cities such as Liverpool and Leicester guarantees that the selected youngsters are in real financial need, that they have the potential to benefit from the opportunity and that their families receive support outside school. This formula has been proven to deliver real and positive results for the pupil, the school and the home community.

Importantly partnership with SpringBoard also comes with a financial contribution of 33% towards each scholarship.

After 5 years the Appeal has generated funds of over £1m and improved the life chances of 11 youngsters.  Another scholar has started at Sedbergh this year and we hope to maintain this momentum into the future. You will be able to read the comments from some of the recipients of these awards, the Headmaster and some of our donors in the October 2017 Newsletter >>>

To safeguard the education of these and future scholars, the Foundation has to continue to generate financial support for this worthwhile cause. The long term success of the programme depends on your ongoing help. If you are in a position to support this scheme, regular or one off donations can be made online >>> or by downloading a donation form >>>
Some supporters have found the donation of shares a particularly tax efficient way of donating to the endowment fund.  Should you be interested in this option, further information on how to donate shares and other assets to charity can be found here >>>

In 2018, once again, we were accepted by ‘The Big Give Christmas Challenge’, the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign.

This is a novel online fundraising event taking place over 7 days from midday Tuesday 27 November until midday Tuesday 4 December. Thanks to the ‘Big Give Christmas Challenge’, donations made to the Roger Lupton Scholarship programme over this period will receive matched funding. Find out more here >>>
