Sedbergh School are currently seeking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic Admissions Assistant to join our busy Admissions Department.

 

This is a full time, permanent position. Hours and days will be as follows:

 

·         Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 5:30pm

·         Saturday cover may be needed on some occasions. Time in lieu may be taken instead.

·         Salary: £18,000 per annum

SHORT TERM SUMMER JOBS AT SEDBERGH AND CASTERTON PORTERING, MAINTENANCE AND WAITING STAFF FOR COURSES

Portering and Maintenance Teams:

  • Movement of furniture and other equipment
  • Movement of boarding house furniture in preparation for painting, replacing carpets and other elements of the Summer works programme
  • Support to the course programme and events - setting up BBQs, gazebos, car parking etc.
  • Any other jobs that may emerge which require lifting and shifting

Catering - Courses Programme - From 22nd July

  • Preparing dining areas for meal times
  • Serving drinks, meals and snacks in Powell Hall, Queen's Hall and pavilions 
  • Clearing tables, cleaning dining areas and operating dish washers

The roles are interchangeable but you can make a preference for one or the other if necessary. In both cases the essential characteristics are:

  • The ability to work proactively, and without constant supervision
  • A willing and cheerful disposition
  • Initiative
  • Organisational abilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Competent in the manual handling of loads, some training will be required and must be physically fit
  • Have knowledge of understanding of Sedbergh
  • Good team player with the ability to deal with people in a polite and courteous manner
  • A full driving licence is desirable but not essential

HOSPITALITY SUITE ASSISTANT - THE HIRST CENTRE

This will be a full time, permanent post.  Details about this vacancy are as follows:

·       35 paid hours per week

·       48 Week Contract

·       An hourly of £9.18 per hour.

Sedbergh School are currently seeking a House Chef to work within the Boarding Houses in the School. Very much a valued and appreciated part of each team, the ideal candidate would be confident leading a team and overseeing the provision of varied and healthy meals for pupils and staff in the Boarding House with additional work at Sedbergh Summer School.

VACANCY – TRAINEE CHEF (SEDBERGH & CASTERTON)

Sedbergh School is seeking enthusiastic people who would like to start their careers as chefs. You will work alongside the Senior House Chef who will be responsible for your training. For those who have just completed college courses this will be an opportunity to further develop skills in modern cuisine and gain further qualifications with the goal of progressing quickly to becoming a deputy chef. For apprentices, we are offering the opportunity to train at Kendal College on a day release basis, while gaining practical experience. 

The ideal candidates would soon gain sufficient experience to have the confidence to cook breakfasts or prepare tea without direct supervision, and have the ambition to extend their careers further by becoming a House Chef once they have achieved the required experience and qualifications.  

You will be expected to work one of the two main shift patterns (06:30 AM to 2:30 PM) producing breakfast and delivering lunch with the Senior House Chef or working a later shift (11am to 7 PM) covering lunch and producing tea. Ideally you would work one day over a weekend but some individual needs can be met.
