Rong Qiao Sedbergh School (RQSS) is a new bilingual international school that opened in September 2018. It has a very close working relationship with Sedbergh School UK and aims to deliver an exceptional learning environment, providing exciting and holistic education for both Chinese and foreign students. The school currently comprises 10% international and 90% Chinese students, with a projected final capacity of 2,700. VACANCIES AT BROWN OF SEDBERGH 

SENIOR SALES ASSISTANT (PART-TIME) & SALES ASSISTANT (PART-TIME)

Sedbergh School are currently seeking to recruit a part-time Senior Sales Assistant and a Sales Assistant to join our team at Brown of Sedbergh, the school outfitter for Sedbergh School, Casterton Sedbergh Preparatory School and The Mulberry Bush Nursery.

Senior Sales Assistant:

·         22 hours per week

·         Must be able to work alternative Saturdays

·         Must be available to work throughout the back-to-school period during (July to September)

·         Retail experience preferable

·         Salary dependent on experience

Sales Assistant

·         2-3 days per week (flexible)

·         Contract: 42 weeks per year

·         Must be able to work alternative Saturdays

The successful candidates will be required to cover sick leave, staff holidays and other business needs.  During the back-to-school period (July to September), Brown of Sedbergh will be open regularly. Work hours are scheduled on a rota basis throughout this period, which may culminate in working full-time during the first week of September, the back to school week.

VACANCY – AFTERNOON TEA HOST

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Host to join the Queens Hall Team during sporting fixtures at Sedbergh School.

Your role will be to provide a warm welcome to our guests in Queens Hall whilst assisting with the service of Afternoon Tea.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Be customer focused

- Greet every guest in a warm and friendly manner making them feel welcome

- Maintain a clean and well-presented service area

- Support the Chefs

- Clear and re-set tables

- Represent Sedbergh School in a professional manner at all times.

VACANCY – Assistant Housemaster/Housemistress (Residential position)

Working closely with the Housemaster/mistress, the Assistant Housemaster/mistress will play a key role in providing pastoral support and guidance to pupils and organising the daily operations of a seven-day boarding house for approximately 70 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18.

VACANCY – HOUSE CHEF

Sedbergh School are currently seeking a House Chef to work within the Boarding Houses in the School. Very much a valued and appreciated part of each team, the ideal candidate would be confident leading a team and overseeing the provision of varied and healthy meals for pupils and staff in the Boarding House with additional work at Sedbergh Summer School.

Working for Sedbergh School means working within the school community as part of a close-knit team within the Hospitality Department. We are looking to employ enthusiastic people who would like a varied working environment with the opportunity to develop their careers further through NVQ or other qualifications with a goal for some to develop as senior managers.

The proximity to the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the area around Morecambe Bay offers the outdoors enthusiast a wide range of walking, fishing, sailing, climbing, caving and other outdoor pursuits all within easy reach. VACANCY – TRAINEE CHEF (SEDBERGH & CASTERTON)

Sedbergh School is seeking enthusiastic people who would like to start their careers as chefs. You will work alongside the Senior House Chef who will be responsible for your training. For those who have just completed college courses this will be an opportunity to further develop skills in modern cuisine and gain further qualifications with the goal of progressing quickly to becoming a deputy chef. For apprentices, we are offering the opportunity to train at Kendal College on a day release basis, while gaining practical experience. 

The ideal candidates would soon gain sufficient experience to have the confidence to cook breakfasts or prepare tea without direct supervision, and have the ambition to extend their careers further by becoming a House Chef once they have achieved the required experience and qualifications.  

You will be expected to work one of the two main shift patterns (06:30 AM to 2:30 PM) producing breakfast and delivering lunch with the Senior House Chef or working a later shift (11am to 7 PM) covering lunch and producing tea. Ideally you would work one day over a weekend but some individual needs can be met.
