A round up of all the boys' sport results from the week of the 24th February...
It has been a week of culinary competition in Powell House. On Sunday afternoon nine boys spent a couple of hours sweating it out in the kitchen learning how to make marmalade under the guidance of our very own cook Teen Fisher. The boys enjoyed learning new skills and the incentive that their finished marmalades would be judged by members of staff and then sent of to the Dalemain World Marmalade Festival spurred them on. The boys included two pink grapefruits in their marmalade mixes to add a touch of the Powell Pink.
The 2014 House Rugby Final was played between current holders Sedgwick House and Evans House in what proved to be an outstanding spectacle on Powell Pitch.
Another week, another initiative from the Government machine. Today we are told that schools need to instil “Grit and Character” into pupils. To be fair, Tristram Hunt and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Social Mobility acknowledge that private schools do this well. Perhaps they ought to find out how we go about it?
It was another full house in Powell Hall on Sunday evening the audience assembled for this year’s evening of Jazz & Swing. The fact that the full allocation of tickets had sold out in just four days, is a mark of just how popular this event has become. Expectations were running high following several years of highly successful concert, but it is fair to say that these expectations were surpassed at the end of three hours of spellbinding performances from pupils and teachers.
