The purpose of the Sedbergh education is the making of the adult;
the growth of the individual. It is about learning to be yourself
and more than you ever thought you might be.
So how does this happen?
A sense of belonging is immensely precious and to know that we are valued evokes the strongest of emotions.
Sedbergh presents a special environment in which leadership, loyalty and laughter happen; in the classroom, on the pitch, on the stage or in the Houses.
Sedberghians climb, sail and cave. No matter what the context, the challenge
is the same; to be your very best, everyday. It is the same ethos that spills on to our sports
fields or in drama, music and the visual arts.
What is the view like from the top of Everest? How hot is it a kilometre below the surface of the Earth? What is it like to sing in the Basilica of St Mark? How can I start my own business?
Sedberghians have a tenacity forged by the environment and nurtured by the community in which they live that enables them to face their life’s challenges.
These are the children who have found themselves doing extra ordinary things here and progressing to do extraordinary things in their lives that follow.
Sedberghians are imbued with a rich thread of experience and values which enables them
to seize the opportunities that life will present.
