Admissions and Scholarships

Sedbergh Junior School offers places on the basis of assessment for younger children and Entrance Exams are held for pupils aged 10-13. This popular prep school also offers a range of Scholarships and Awards.

Admission Arrangements

Children wishing to enter Sedbergh Junior School will normally spend a taster day with their Year group and be assessed by their subject teachers. If necessary, an assessment interview with reading, spelling and cognitive ability tests will also be given.

Pupils can start at any age from 4 to 13 although parents who are intending their child to move on to the Senior School should be aware that places are at a premium and an early entrance to Sedbergh Junior School could be beneficial.

A report will always be requested from the child’s current school.

Scholarships, Exhibitions and Awards at Sedbergh Junior School

A range of Awards are available for talented boys and girls entering Sedbergh Junior School, from age 8.

Scholarships are our highest award and Exhibitions are awarded to those pupils close to gaining a Scholarship. A Scholarship may be worth up to 50% of the School fee: the value will be advised at the time the award is made.  Further means-tested support may be available, and sibling discounts are offered.

Scholarships and Exhibitions are offered in the following areas:
