Netball v Highfield Priory
Although Highfield Priory had been regular guests at the annual SJS U11 tournament we had never had a regular fixture against them. The Highfield girls had always been very successful in the tournament and facing them in a full match was a good test for the SJS girls.
The U11 A team were missing several key players but took to the court with determination. Highfield pulled ahead in the first quarter but SJS pulled back to make it a close contest. The final score of 9-6 was no disgrace and with the team at full strength the story may have been different. Eden and Kitty played well throughout and Hope Webster and Lucy Bailey were excellent in mid court.
The U11 B team had a great game, particularly in the second quarter, and were showing much better awareness of space on court. Stars of the show on the day were the U9 team who had a great 10-2 victory. The whole team played well on this occasion with Evie Connolly and Chloe Anderson intercepting many passes into the circle, newcomer Molly Barrett finding her confidence, Henrietta Cropper and Xanthe Dobbs showing real maturity in their play, particularly at the centre passes, and excellent shooting in the circle from Bebe Livesey, Maddy Harrison and Ella Seymour. It was a great way to end the afternoon!
