Fantastic Run for Rebecca at Penrith

Twelve Year 7 SJS runners went to QEGS, Penrith on Friday for the Year 7 Cumbria Cross-Country event. With well over 100 boys and girls in both events there was plenty of stiff opposition. There was much at stake, as the first 8 runners home would be selected for Cumbria to run at Bridgenorth, Shropshire on November 20th. The star of the show for SJS was Penrith-born Rebecca Holliday, who virtually ran herself into the ground to finish 4th and make the county team. It was an impressive run and has inspired Rebecca to get even fitter. Tabitha Holdsworth kept going right to the end to finish 9th and be first reserve for the county. All the girls gave 100% with Sally Bennett running well again in 17th, Lucy Bailey 32nd, Pollyanna Bell 40th and a spirited performance from Lara Burch in 59th. The boys were just as committed, and Josh Hodge did not disappoint with a hard earned 5th place, making the Cumbria team. He was ably supported by Richard Burns 16th, Jonathon Mason 18th, Luke Worrall-Thomson 29th, Daniel Holley 31st and Will Taylor 46th.
