200 Years of Casterton School

199 years ago, Casterton School was founded by Reverend Carus Wilson as the 'Clergy Daughters' School' in Cowan Bridge.

His aim was to educate daughters of financially disadvantaged clergymen, and the Brontë sisters are perhaps, its most famous alumnae.  It moved to its site at Casterton in 1833, having opened its doors in 1823 with its official "opening" in 1824.

In the next 199 years, the School developed and adapted as it grew into the independent girls' school remembered by so many.  2013 brought Casterton into the Sedbergh family, and it became the the Prep School location for a growing number of boys and girls.

We will celebrate 200 years of Casterton School and girls' education in 2023 with a series of events culminating in a Gala Ball and Founder's Weekend on 24 & 25 June 2023.  Please see the links below for more information and to register your interest in the events.

We are delighted to be welcoming you back to visit us; parents, past and present, alumnae, staff and friends of Casterton.  Do join us for what will be a fantastic year!
