SEDBERGH SENIOR SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR WINS LIFETIME AWARD

Sedbergh Senior School Development Director of Fundraising and Development, Richard Witt, has been presented with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Institute of Development Professionals in Education.

Richard, who has led the Sedbergh Foundation Development Office at Sedbergh School since 2003, received the award in recognition of his contributions to Sedbergh and other Schools where he has acted as a consultant to Headteachers and Governors. The judging panel said that, “Richard’s dedication and commitment is far-reaching across the sector, he is always there to support and advise, encouraging all Schools along their development journey.” 

Whilst at Sedbergh, Richard has established the Roger Lupton Scholarship Programme which enables selected boys and girls to attend the school at no cost, has established the largest School legacy programme in the country and raised £10M towards built projects. Recently, he has been the driving force behind the Cumbria Education Centre for Advanced Technology, working with a wide range of schools, the University of Cumbria and industry. 

Five hundred fellow professionals gave Richard a standing ovation at a glittering dinner at Birmingham NEC on Monday 11th June.
