Thank you for your interest in Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School. Families are warmly invited to visit us and see at first hand all that is on offer for their child.

Pupils can start at the Prep School from the term that they turn 3 through to 13. Applications are accepted throughout the year, although early applications in Yeasr 5 - 7 should be encouraged due to popularity.
Visit Sedbergh Prep: families may wish to bring their child/ren on the first visit, or may prefer to pay an initial visit alone, then return for a second visit with them; both options are warmly welcomed.
Prep School Taster: Children wishing to enter the Preparatory School are encouraged to spend a taster day with their year group, as part of the admissions process. This can include boarding as applicable. During this session an assessment interview with English, maths and cognitive ability tests will also be given for children looking to enter the School from Year 6 upwards. Please do contact the Registrar to book a taster or to discuss this further.
Register Your Child/ren: to formalise your application, we would invite you to then register your child/ren. Registration forms are available from the Admissions Team; the registration fee is £125.00 (non refundable). A copy of your child/ren’s most recent School Report is required alongside the Registration Form.
Senior School Transition: parents who are intending their child to move on to the Senior School should be aware that Boarding House places are at a premium and an early entrance to the Preparatory School would be beneficial. Prep School parents are invited to confirm their child's Senior Boarding House place selection in Year 7.
To discuss the process for overseas applications, please contact Mrs Anna Cooper at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +44 (0)15242 79200.

A limited number of Scholarship Awards are available for talented boys and girls entering the Preparatory School, at age 11 i.e. as they transition between Year 6 and 7. These are available in the following categories:
- Design, Technology & Engineering
Scholarship Awards for entry into the School in September 2020 were assessed in October 2019. If you are interested, however, in your child being assessed for an 11+ Scholarship to start in September 2020, please contact our Admissions Team to discuss this further.
The assessments are designed as an information gathering process for us as a School. We aim for the children attending to enjoy themselves without experiencing any undue pressure or anxiety.
Sedbergh School welcomes bursary applications from families who might, under ordinary circumstances, not consider Sedbergh School for their child for financial reasons.
Having already contacted the Registrar, and registered your child’s application to Sedbergh, you are invited to then contact Mr Tony Roberts, Deputy Bursar (Compliance and Governance), on +44 (0) 7967 326458 or at firstname.lastname@example.org for guidance on making an application.
Sedbergh School is committed to widening access by enabling children, who would not otherwise be able, to join the School, and to allow children to remain in the event of an unforeseen change in a family’s financial circumstances. However, Bursarial funds are limited and therefore distributed as beneficially as possible based on a wide range of criteria, not just financial.
