May Bank Holiday is always a very popular Open Morning in our calendar; due to current demand we have now added an additional date, on the Friday morning, for families to visit us.

On Friday 3rd May, our whole school will be on site, from Reception through to Year 8, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to experience a typical 'day in the life' of Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School. Watch Pre-Prep in the outdoor learning den, a performing arts lesson full of drama, an explosive science experiment and creativity being unleashed in Art and DTE - a typical day at school!

On Saturday 4th May, our Year 7 and 8 pupils are in School for Saturday lessons before games fixtures in the afternoon and always love the opportunity to conduct tours, giving guests an insight into their life at the Prep School.

On both days, visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the Headmaster, plus members of our academic and boarding team. We aim to show you how we bring out the best in every child through an inspiring curriculum, outstanding pastoral care and an unrivalled extra-curricular activities programme.

Click here to find out why the Independent Schools Inspectorate rated us as excellent for both the pupils' academic education and personal development in our most recent report.

TRAVELLING TO SEDBERGH PREP & SENIOR SCHOOLS

The small, safe yet vibrant market towns of Sedbergh (home to Sedbergh Senior School) and Kirkby Lonsdale (closest town to the Prep School) are situated between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, two of the most visited National Parks in Europe. Just 10 miles apart from each other, both Schools benefit from excellent road and rail links, and two international airports are within easy distance.

By Road

Sedbergh Senior and Prep Schools are under five miles from the M6, giving fast motorway access to Scotland, the Midlands and the South. From the North East the recommended route is either the A1 and A66 from Scotch Corner or, if living further south, the A65. The A684 through the Yorkshire Dales is beautiful, but very much slower.

BY AIR

Both Schools are within a 90 minute drive of Manchester and Liverpool international airports, with Manchester Airport having domestic connections from London Heathrow and Gatwick and also serving European and Worldwide destinations.

BY RAIL

Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale are 25 minutes from the Lake District town of Kendal, and just 35 minutes from the city of Lancaster. Oxenholme Lake District station can be reached by direct trains from London Euston within 2 hours 40 minutes and is a key stopping point on the West Coast Main Line.
