Friday 4th & Saturday 5th October 2019

reception to year 8 entry

We warmly invite you to join one of our first Open Mornings of the academic year on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October 2019, from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm.

Each morning will begin with refreshments in our Library, hosted by Headmaster, Mr Will Newman, and his wife, Liz. This will be followed by a tour of the School conducted by our Year 8 pupils, during which time you will be able to visit classrooms, meet staff and view our full range of facilities.

There will also be the opportunity to visit our Boarding Houses, if of interest, and meet with our Houseparents, who will be happy to answer any questions you have about our boarding options, available from Year 3 upwards.

On Friday 4th October we will be operating as a normal School day so you will have a unique opportunity to see all of the School, from Reception to Year 8, in action! On Saturday morning our Year 7 and 8 pupils will be in School alongside our younger boarders, and both days will provide visitors with a realistic impression of our Prep School.

It is only by visiting that families can truly experience this ‘nurturing of great warmth and friendliness’ (The Good Schools Guide, 2019). We look forward to welcoming you this October.

These Open Mornings are for pupils looking to join Sedbergh Prep School from Pre-School to Year 8.

For children also interested in applying for one of our Year 7 Scholarship Awards, please click here for more information and indicate your interest on the registration form. The Scholarship assessments will take place in the week commencing 7th October

Located just outside Kirkby Lonsdale, voted the number 1 place to live in the North West by The Sunday Times, Sedbergh Prep School enjoys an enviable location between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park. Its location also benefits from excellent road and rail links, and two international airports are within easy distance.

By Road

Sedbergh Prep School is just five miles from the M6 J36, giving fast motorway access to Scotland, the Midlands and the South. From the East the recommended route is to use the A66 or A65. The A684 through the Yorkshire Dales is beautiful, but very much slower.

Sedbergh Prep School is within a 90 minute drive of Manchester and Liverpool international airports, with Manchester Airport having domestic connections from London Heathrow and Gatwick and also serving European and worldwide destinations.

Oxenholme Lake District station, just 20 minutes from the School, is a key stopping point on the West Coast Main Line, with direct trains from London Euston taking around 2.5 hours. Sedbergh Prep School is 25 minutes from the Lake District town of Kendal, and just 30 minutes from the city of Lancaster.
