"You get the best out of every child, whatever their strengths.”
Year 7 Parent feedback

At Sedbergh, we recognise distinctive potential and abilities through our 11+ Scholarships. They are the highest awards available, granted at the Headmaster’s discretion, to children entering Year 7, and are designed to nurture talent and ability in the fields of academia, music, drama, sport, art and design, technology and engineering.

Scholarships pupils become a member of the School's respected Scholars’ Programme and receive a nominal financial concession towards their tuition fees, which continues throughout their time at Sedbergh Prep and the Senior School. Applications for means tested bursaries can also be submitted once Scholarships have been awarded.

Our second Scholarship assessment days, for Year 7 entry in September 2021, will take place as and when Covid-19 measures allow. Our preliminary plans are for these to take place in late March or in the week commencing 12th April, during the final week of the School's Easter holidays. Alternatively, these may be done virtually if face to face assessments cannot be arranged.

If you would like to make a 2021 Scholarship application, please complete and return both a School Registration and Scholarship Application Form to the Admissions Team as soon as possible. Both forms can be found by clicking the buttons below.

Dates for the individual assessments will be confirmed once we have more understanding of Covid-19 protocols following the government announcement on 22nd February 2021.

Our Scholarship assessment days are designed as an information gathering process and, as such, it is hoped that they will create as little anxiety as possible for the children.

Please be aware that we may face last minute changes to any planned Scholarship assessment days, linked to the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation and guidelines. It would be useful to have any supporting evidence, including references from teachers / coaches and videos / online portfolios of work, available to share with the the School, should the need arise.

Means Tested Bursaries

Sedbergh School welcomes bursary applications from families who might, under ordinary circumstances, not consider Sedbergh School for their child for financial reasons. We are committed to widening access by enabling children, who would not otherwise be able, to join the School, and to allow children to remain in the event of an unforeseen change in a family’s financial circumstances.

Having already completed a Scholarship application, you are invited to then contact Mr Tony Roberts, Deputy Bursar (Compliance and Governance), on +44 (0) 7967 326458 or at tr.bursary@sedberghschool.org for guidance on making an application.

For information on bursaries and entitled concessions, please visit the Admissions page.
