At Sedbergh, we recognise distinctive potential and abilities through our 11+ Scholarships. They are the highest awards available, granted at the Headmaster’s discretion, to children entering Year 7, and are designed to nurture talent and ability in the fields of academia, art, computer science, design, technology and engineering, drama, music and sport.

Scholarship pupils become a member of the School's respected Scholars’ Programme and receive a modest financial concession towards their tuition fees, which continues throughout their time at Sedbergh Prep and Senior School. Please see below for more information about Means Tested Bursaries and other concessions.

Scholarship assessments take place in the January prior to Year 7 entry. For families wishing to apply outside these dates, for more information or to book a place on the next round of assessments, please complete the form on this page or contact our Admissions Team at admissions@sedberghprep.org or on 015242 79247 or 79200

To make a Scholarship application, both a School Registration and Scholarship Application Form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Team. Both forms can be found by clicking the buttons below.

Our Scholarship assessment days are designed as an information gathering process and, as such, it is hoped that they will create as little anxiety as possible for the children.

Scholarships, bursaries and concessions

Sedbergh Prep School welcomes discussions with families who might, under ordinary circumstances, not consider Sedbergh for their child, for financial reasons. We are committed to widening access by enabling children, who would not otherwise be able, to join the School, and to allow children to remain in the event of an unforeseen change in a family’s financial situation.

Having already completed a Scholarship application, you are invited to contact Mr Tony Roberts, Bursar (Compliance), on +44 (0) 7498 150720 or at tr@sedberghschool.org for an initial discussion regarding individual circumstances. Other financial concessions and means-tested bursaries may be available and combined with scholarships into one level of support, depending on each family's circumstances.

For further information, please also visit the Bursaries and Concessions part of our Admissions page.
