ALAN LEWIS TRIBUTE CONCERT

At the end of the Lent term, the current members of the school’s CCF Band were joined by Old Sedberghians for a special concert in tribute to their late Bandmaster, Mr Alan Lewis.

A well balanced ensemble of more than 50 players had gathered together just the day before to rehearse a programme that consisted of the band’s favourite pieces from the past two decades.

Among the large audience that assembled for the concert were three Headmasters of the school, past and present, and many friends, former pupils, parents and staff. They were treated to music of an exceptional quality, as well as a few amusing anecdotes that were shared by members of the band.

The concert was presented by the current Band Sergeant Major, Ellie Armstrong (R, Y13), who thanked Mr Gray for having conducted the CCF Band this year and put such a great concert together.

She also expressed gratitude on behalf of all members of the band who played under the direction of Mr Lewis, for the ‘enduring musical experiences and many memories that he created for us.’
