U15 Barnard Castle Tournament: Lost Final V Durham 29-21
This is the fourth final B1 have made this sevens season and the third they have lost to a strong Durham side. Sedbergh had a two point lead twice in the game and played some excellent sevens but weren’t quite clinical enough to finish the job.

U16 QEGS Wakefield Tournament: Finished 2nd in group winning 4 out of 5 matches
Another improved performance from A1 saw us finish 2nd in the group with 4 wins. Only a 26-24 loss in a fantastic opening game against Woodhouse Grove prevented us qualifying for the final.

1st VII Hymers Tournament: Lost Semi Final V Durham 21-0
After a disastrous, error ridden second half of their first game against Bradford Grammar, this young squad managed to grow in confidence with each match played in the tournament.

Two solid performances against Ampleforth and Birkdale ensured progression into the cup quarter-finals, even though the boy’s narrowly lost a further group game late on to St Peters York.

Up until the quarter-finals, this inexperienced squads performances were lacking in consistency across the whole 14mins of play. However, in the knock-out stages of the competition, against Barnard castle, the team showed real patience and clinical finishing to take an early lead.

This, accompanied by a huge amount of effort and calmness in defence, ensured the victory and a place in the semi-finals of the cup competition. Unfortunately, this game against a physical Durham side, proved to be one match to far, with the opposition scoring three unanswered tries to progress to the finals. A valuable learning experience for everyone involved with several players putting their hands up for future selection.

Saturday 21st March
U14 Hymers Tournament: Finished 2nd in group winning 4 out of 5 matches
This C1 VII side were confident going into their final tournament of the season. Having been placed in a very tough group including two other top teams in the form of RGS Newcastle and Ampleforth, a good start was key.

Unfortunately the boys left their heads on the bus as RGS Newcastle played a powerful running game and put the game beyond reach after the 1st half in the first game of the day. We recovered well, winning the second half however this just wasn’t enough, losing 31-12 overall.

In true sedbergh fashion, the squad came together pulling some fantastic performances together, growing each time, beating Ashville, Bradford GS and Ermysteds 48-7, 41-0, and 40-0 respectively.

This left a tough game against Ampleforth to finish. A very impressive defensive performance contained any danger men from the opposition and so with ball in Hand we played some great rugby. Eventually winning 26-10.
This left the team 2nd in the group, with only the top team progressing to the cup final.
