CRICKET

1st XI v Myerscough (Old Trafford) Won by 61 runs

Sedbergh 145-8 (H. Brook 52)

Myerscough 84 (K. Tahirkheli 3-15, H. Brook 3-11)

In the opening fixture of the season only skipper harry brook found any real form with the bat and we struggled to a below par total of 145-8 off our 40 overs. However, all the bowlers found the form quickly and after excellent opening spells from James Park-Johnson and George Hill had put the opposition under early pressure Kyme Tahirkheli and brook came on and picked up 3 wickets apiece and Myerscough fell to 84 all out.

2nd XI v Myerscough (Old Trafford) Won by 5 runs.

Sedbergh 175-10 (N Wild 66)

Myerscough 170-10

1st XI v Myerscough (Preston) Won by 77 Runs.

Sedbergh 227 (H Brook 113, J. Park-Johnson 30)

Myerscough 150-8

A much better batting performance in which Harry Brook struck a century saw us post a completive 227, a total which Myerscough never really threatened due to tight bowling which was backed up by excellent fielding and catching.

2nd XI v Myerscough (Preston) Won by 9 wickets.

Myerscough 131-10 (A Little 3-10, B Hickey 3-21)

Sedbergh 137-1 (C Park Johnson 38*, R Farrar 77*)

1st XI v St Peters York T20 Won by 66 runs

Sedbergh 145

St Peters York 84-6

After Harry Brook was bizarrely run out of the second ball of the innings Greg Cameron and Max Silvester were in aggressive mood and took 60 runs off the power play. The innings then lost a bit of momentum but excellent cameos from Wade Williams and Kyme Tahirkheli took us to a competitive score of 145, a total which St. Peter’s never threatened.

1st XI v St Peters York (50 Overs) Won by 8 wickets

St Peters York 199 (C. Sanders 3-26, K. Tahirkheli 3-26)

Sedbergh 200-2 (H Brook 117, S. Barrett 61)

A below par bowling performance allowed St. Peter’s to post 199 but destructive hitting from Harry Brook (117 off 71 balls) and Sam Barrett (61 off 46) made short work of the target as we got home in the 26th over.

2nd XI v Barnard Castle Won by 8 wickets

Barnard Castle 166-9 (B Hickey 3-30)

Sedbergh 167-2 (C Park Johnson 44, R Farrar 79*)

SAILING

Lakeland and Border Region Laser Series – round one – Killington (H)

A fickle and oft times intransigent wind beset us all day – apart from when we weren’t racing – it was good when we arrived and when we were leaving but during our racing, gaping holes emerged, massive wind shifts and on occasions some nice wind!! Frustrating to see it gusting into Force 4 when the maximum during the racing had been F2.

Anyway…. 22 competitors arrived at Killington from all over Cumbria including Bassenthwaite, Coniston, South Windermere and Ullswater.  There was a larger youth element in the regatta this year after the winter training of the Cumbria Youth team at Killington over winter.

4 Sedberghians, James Thomas (Capt), George Thomas, Walter Keegan and Geordan Moss formed our team accompanied by one OS,  Chay Turner Richard and one Future Sedberghian Reuben Copley.

James now has to compete as an adult in the series but was the highest placed in our team coming 12th overall.  George was the highest placed youth coming 3rd in both the radial and youth class.

In the youths, Walter Keegan had his best race in race 2 coming 4th youth overall while Geordan Moss in his radial rig came 6th.

We now look forward to RYA Junior Travellers’ event next weekend.
