DEPUTY HEAD (PASTORAL) SUE WALLACE-WOODROFFE APPOINTED AS HEADMISTRESS OF PRINCESS HELENA COLLEGE, HERTFORDSHIRE

Sue Wallace-Woodroffe has been appointed as Headmistress of Princess Helena College in Hertfordshire, starting her role in April 2015. Sue was Housemistress of Lupton before becoming Deputy Head (Pastoral) and was instrumental in the School’s move to co-education.

Headmaster Andrew Fleck said: “We will undoubtedly miss Sue but are all delighted that her talent has been recognised. We are confident that Princess Helena’s will flourish under her leadership.”

Mr Fleck told parents: “Sue’s departure leaves vacant an important role within the pastoral leadership of the School, one which requires a deep understanding of the Boarding culture and routines within the Houses.”

Colin Gunning has been invited to become Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral) from September 2015. Colin has been Housemaster of Evans House for nine years, is Head of Chemistry and coaches the 2nd XV and U15 Cricket team. Colin will relinquish his role in Evans.

In his place, Jonathan Lidiard will become Housemaster. Evans House is his second home as he is an Old Evanian (1995-2000), and a former Deputy Housemaster of Evans (2010-2012). Jonathan is Head of Classics, coaches C1 and runs the Fives Teams.

At the same time, the opportunity has been taken to strengthen the Senior Leadership Team. From April, Lotte Wright will become Assistant Headmistress with particular responsibility for the pastoral welfare of the girls in the School.

Lotte will remain as Housemistress of Lupton; she also teaches English, coaches Swimming and is developing our advisory system for pupils wishing to apply for American Universities.
