GCSE joy for Sedberghians

It is another week of celebration here at Sedbergh. Following on from last week’s A Level results, today we celebrate and congratulate those who have received their GCSE results this morning.

This year, 95% of GCSE candidates achieved 5 or more passes, happily matching our highest score from the last decade. We are delighted that we were also able to maintain our GCSE pass rate of 92% (our second highest in the last decade) with our percentage of 9 -7 grades hitting 40%.

Our Headmaster, Mr Dan Harrison, has shared his delight on the news of this year’s results; “We are delighted that so many of our pupils have obtained such excellent results. I am very proud of them and their teachers alike, and these results will provide first-class foundations for the next stage of their education.”

Max Jackson topped the School’s results achieving 6 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s. He was closely followed by George Welch who gained 5 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s. Both boys had an average GCSE score of 8.3 over their 11 GCSEs.

Local pupils Olivia Chatterley and all-round sportswoman India Haydon-Wood all achieved 6 or more grade 8s and 9s.

We send our extended congratulations to all pupils who have received their GCSE results this morning, and our thanks go to our hardworking staff for their continued effort and support throughout the academic year.

We look forward to welcoming pupils back from their summer holidays, as we are fast approaching the start of another year with term starting on Wednesday 4 September.
