1st XI v Barnard Castle
Won 4-0
This was just what the doctor ordered, a perfect morale booster for the girls!
This was the performance everyone has been waiting for as three out of six short corners were converted to give Sedbergh a 3-0 lead early in the second half.
Two from Captain Emilia Tyser and a deflection from Hannah Page were supplemented by a fine finish from Lizzie Churchouse near the end. The confidence gained from scoring goals was evident as players remained calm on the ball and as a result made good decisions that saw Sedbergh’s passing game back in evidence.
Everyone played their part in what was a fine performance that should give the girls confidence going into the second half of the season. MPS
2nd XI v Barnard Castle
Drew 1-1
This was a good game of second team hockey in which Sedbergh started the more brightly and deservedly took the lead in the first half.
Georgia Thomas, in particular, was excellent in defence whilst every time the girls fed the ball down the right-hand side wing Emily Edwards caused problems for the visitor’s left back, and it was the winger who netted for Sedbergh from close range.
Unfortunately, the girls were unable to maintain the pattern of play in the second half as Barnard Castle began to dominate possession and attack through the inside-right channel.
Eventually, their persistence paid off as Barnard Castle equalised midway through the second half and despite chances at both ends neither team was able to snatch the winner. Well done to Captain Heather Colston and her team on an excellent effort in what was a very good game of second team hockey played in a positive manner. MPS
3rd XI v Barnard Castle
Lost 2-0
The mighty third team were unfortunate not to grab another victory today. Much effort and many pink faces were seen, with a good number of shots on goal all thwarted by a very good goal keeper.
The team put together many an attack including some counterattacks from the rapid Charlie Linas. The defence worked hard and were unfortunate to concede two goals. Better luck next week girls! CMM
U15XI V Barnard Castle

The U15’s played Barnard Castle on Saturday away. They played skilfully and kept possession throughout the match. Goals scored by Josie, Georgina and Molly with 2. End score 4-0. Team need to work on outcomes in the D to improve. (Georgina Boyd-Moss)
U14 XI v Barnard Castle
Won 9-1
The U14A’s played Barnard Castle and won 9-1. They started very strong and scored straight away. They were 7-0 up at half time. They drove well and played simple but good hockey. Goal scorers: Anna, Issy, Imani, Imogen. Well done. (Issy Chamberlain)
Jnr B XI v Barnard Castle
Won 6-0
The junior b side dominated play after an initially cautious start, goals from captain Thomson, Sarah Long and Sophie Kenyon gave us a 4-0 lead at half time .
Intelligent play switching the ball from far right to far left to avoid congestion created space allowing Lucy Bailey to score. Thomson converted a short corner which completed the score at 6 nil. The game was played in a competitive but friendly spirit. HLR
