GIRLS’ SPORTS REPORTS 18/05/14

ATHLETICS

Our U15 and U14 athletics teams travelled to York on Saturday to compete in the Independent Schools Girls Championships .  The sun was shining and there were nearly twenty schools competing from all over the North of England, with many club athletes amongst the opposition.

Our girls competed extremely well and secured outstanding wins in the following events:
Joy Stanley – U14 Discus
Pollyanna Bell – U14 Javelin
Tabitha Holdsworth – U14 Shot
Rebecca Monaghan-Allan – U15 Shot

Other notable highlights were:
Sally Bennett – 3rd in U14 800m
Georgia Thomas – 3rd in U15 800m
Harriet Bramwell – 3rd in U14 High Jump
Cheza Millar and Pippa Macdonald securing places in the 100/200m U15 sprint finals.

The U14 Team finished 2nd overall out of twenty schools, just losing out on first place by 4 points, a history making best result for our young team.  These results were truly excellent and show just how much strength and depth we have in athletics at Sedbergh, well done girls!
