TENNIS

2nd round Aberdare Cup v Windermere – Won 12-0
A convincing win against our local rivals in the National Cup.  Our talented junior pair of Hollings and Burns enjoyed some exciting play in both doubles and singles together with Boyd-Moss and Captain Jefferies in the second pairing.  Now through to the 3rd round v Strathallan at home on 4th May which no doubt will be a much tougher opponent.

ROUNDERS

1st v Durham – Won 21-19
A thrilling rounders match against Durham with Sedbergh narrowly winning 21-19. A strong first innings from Sedbergh with Duxbury, Nuttall and Hodgson hitting well, and McCutcheon and Richmond fielding to get players out on 1st base. Sedbergh led the first innings 13-8 ½ .

Durham stepped up and won the second innings, however it wasn’t enough to take the lead. A competitive game in sunshine!  ATH

2nd v Durham – Won 23-5
Sedbergh scored a fantastic 13 ½ rounders in their first innings against Durham. Eliza Nelstrop and Rose Arnold scored 3 full rounders each from long hits and good use of field space.

Eliza Twiddle’s acrobatic fielding denied Durham multiple rounders meaning they only scored 3 ½ in the first innings. Amy Lewin scored the most in the second innings giving Sedbergh an overall score of 23 that Durham just could not match. RPM

U15 v Durham – Won 19 ½ – 1
A convincing win for the U15 team in which Durham struggled to score. Fielding was excellent, the highlight of which being the great work by Anna Pateman Johnson and Lexi Whitfield in getting the first 5 batters out at first base in the second innings. Batting was strong and some excellent running decisions by Roxy Waller and Elissa Baxter helped to notch up the rounders.

U14 v Durham – Won 12 ½ – 6
This team secured their second convincing victory over Durham on Saturday with a final score of 12.5 to 6. Sedbergh dominated the first innings scoring 9 rounders. Strong multi directional hitting by Lottie Burns, new into this side, credited her with 3 rounders.

Joelle Welsh put in a solid performance and Perdie Blackhall was a force to be reckoned with. Sedbergh fielded well. The side lost momentum in the second innings yet had done enough to win convincingly. HLR
