JAMES GRIFFIN PLAYS AT WIMBLEDON INTERNATIONAL EVENT

James Griffin (Hart) has just returned from playing in his most prestigious event to date competing on the hallowed lawns of Wimbledon over 3 days in the Road to Wimbledon International U14 Junior tournament.

James competed excellently narrowly losing his group matches 7/6 6/2 Chirag Duhan (India), Matthew Rankin (Scotland) 7/6 6/2 and Dean Cooper-Kirkby (USA) 4/6 7/6 10/8 unfortunately losing 5 tie-breaks but showing that he can compete at this level which bodes well for the future.

Wimbledon Head Coach and Master of Ceremonies Dan Bloxam watched James play and invited him to attend early morning squad sessions and play on the restricted members courts which was a huge privilege for James and certainly enhanced his Wimbledon experience.

James thoroughly enjoyed the experience and now moves on to Nottingham where he will be competing in the British U14 National Finals (Top 32 in GB) next week. He has already competed these holidays in a European Tour Event in Edinburgh (semi- finalist), Regional U18 Event in Huddersfield (Doubles semi – finalist), U18 County Level event in Stratford-upon-Avon (Singles & Doubles Champion), Bath UK National Event (Quarter-final), U16 Regional Event in Liverpool (Singles & Doubles Champion) & a Men`s County Level Event in Bradford (Champion).

He looks forward to coming back to school for a rest!
