James Griffin (Year 9 Hart) has just competed in his first international tennis tournament having qualified for the U14 Teen Tennis International Tournament held at Bolton Arena where previous players include Sir Andy Murray, Marcos Baghdatis, Tomas Berdych and Eugenie Bouchard, Caroline Wozniacki, Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters in the girl`s event.

James is already part of the GB set-up but this event is by far the highest standard tournament he has ever played in with players travelling from all over the world to compete (USA/Canada/Japan/Brazil etc).

James lost in the first round 6/1 6/3 to a Croatian boy who made it to the last 16 but certainly didn`t look out of place playing at international level. The match was filmed you can judge for yourself: https://youtu.be/Oy62K40GfFo

James trains for 15 hours per week, is currently ranked number 7 (2004 Boy) in Great Britain and is part of the GB National set-up he is sponsored by HEAD UK, Roundhouse Properties, The Holroyd Foundation  and a Manchester based businessman.
