NEW YEAR SPORTING SUCCESS FOR SEDBERGH SCHOOL PUPILS

Sedbergh School pupils maintained impressive levels of activity during the Christmas break, recording a number of regional, national and international sporting successes.

Issy Chamberlain (L) and Emily Dignan (L) have been selected to attend the England Hockey Performance training at Fylde Performance Centre over the next six months. This is a new initiative by England Hockey to talent ID the best players in the country; a great achievement by both girls to be selected. More success for the girls saw Molly Davies (R) being selected for the U18 Cumbria golf team over the weekend.

For rugby, Kyle Kitney (S) played for Hong Kong U20 against Malaysia & Sri Lanka in the qualifying rounds for the Junior world Trophy in December. Hong Kong won this tournament. Wade Williams (W) has been selected in the North of England U18 Counties squad, and Jack Hutchinson (S) Brad Clements (P) & Jack Hill (SH) have been selected in the Scottish Exiles U18 Squad. More than 25 Sedbergh players have been involved in the Premiership U18 Academy league, County U18 or Training with premiership U16 academy squads during the Christmas holidays.

William Ross and OS Harriet Bramwell have been selected to represent the British Cadet Rifle Team known as ‘The Athelings’ on tour in Canada this Summer. They will be part of a team of 18 and will shoot in the Canadian National championships and against the Canadian Cadet team.

Already featured on Twitter, Harry Brook represented the ‘Young Lions’ on a tour to Dubai before Christmas and as a result of his performance (which included scoring 98 in the final 3 day game against a UAE select XI) has been selected for the England U19 tour to India at the end of this month.

Congratulations to all of these pupils.
