POWELL HOUSE AND HART HOUSE ARE VICTORIOUS AGAIN IN HOUSE SINGING COMPETITION

It is a well-established tradition for the Lent term to come to a close with the House Singing Competition. This is the only competitive event out of many at Sedbergh, to involve every single pupil, and this year there was a heightened sense of anticipation in Powell Hall – if this were possible – as Carus House were welcomed to the competition.

Whilst all the houses are always slick and stylish in their presentation, I daresay that the overall standard of singing this year was the best for some time. Carus showed no hint of beginners nerves and were superb, as were both of the other girls’ houses.

In the end though, it was two of the boys houses who won: Hart House walked away with the Part Song competition cup for the third successive year, while Powell House were victorious in the Unison Competition for the second year running.

Congratulations to all pupils for making this such a superb competition. One of our adjudicators, Mr Jeremy Goulding – former Headmaster of Shrewsbury School – remarked that it was among the very best of many singing competitions that he had witnessed.
