Younger members of the Sedbergh School rifle team had a successful trip to Blair Atholl in Scotland last week, where they shot at distances of up to 1000 yards. Freddie Cade and Henry Nichols (both in Year 9) were among a group of younger shooters who made the journey to compete in the Scottish Open Championships – a series of self-coached full-bore competitions.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the competition and learnt a great deal. They were excellent ambassadors for Sedbergh School.
After impressing selectors on the first day, Struan Freeborn (SH, Year 10) was chosen to compete for Scotland in ‘The Laurence Trophy,’ a match against England, gaining a full cap for Scotland. Struan did the team proud by achieving highest score in the Scotland team at five hundred yards.
