We are delighted to announce after a two-day inspection in July that Sedbergh International Summer School is now fully accredited by the British Council following another successful programme in 2019.
Sedbergh International Summer School is owned and operated by Sedbergh School and provides a complete British boarding school experience where students learn English from the finest teachers and, outside the classroom, enjoy an impressive range of sports, excursions and exciting activities.
Sedbergh were praised by the British Council on a number of elements;
noting strengths in both strategic and quality management, the premises and
facilities and the teaching of the classroom-based lessons. When discussing the
strength of the English lessons, the British Council said;
“The course is based on sound principals and is very well structured in order to encourage the development of not only language, but also confidence, teamwork and social skills. The weekly themes are closely linked to excursions and activities”.
The British Council have also praised the premises and facilities at
“Sedbergh is a well-kept, spacious campus with well-maintained buildings, which are spotlessly clean”.
Course Director of Sedbergh International Summer School (ISS), Ms Gemma
Newton, has shared her thoughts on the latest news;
“Sedbergh ISS are extremely proud to have been awarded the British Council accreditation. The detailed feedback we have received from the inspectors and their report recognised the importance we place on providing a rich educational experience through outdoor pursuits, community engagement and team building opportunities. An area which the inspectors were very enthusiastic about was our dedication to the community-based projects we incorporate into our English course, as well as the links between our cultural excursions, activities and the English curriculum itself, which provide a well-rounded, engaging and effective course. We are now looking forward to another fantastic summer in 2020”.
Sedbergh International Summer School are now taking bookings for their summer 2020 programme, starting on 28th June 2020 – 15th August 2020 for pupils aged between 8 – 17.
