Sedbergh celebrates academic success

Following another fantastic year, Sedbergh are delighted to celebrate the achievements of its pupils A Level results. The overall pass rate for this year’s results sits at over 98%, with over 75% achieving grades A*- C.

Headmaster, Dan Harrison is very pleased with our set of A Level results saying; “We are delighted with the results our pupils have received. It provides further evidence that our academic standards get better year on year. The statistics are impressive but as always it is about individuals rather than overall percentages. These results are a collective triumph for pupils and staff alike.”

Local successes include Claudia Bull of Grayrigg, who gained A*AAB and will go on to read English Literature at UCL, and Reuben Copley of Backbarrow, winner of this year’s Wilson Run, who gained A*A*A*C. Five pupils gained straight A* and A grades. Charlie Papworth who gained A*A*AA will read Law at Jesus College, Oxford. Four pupils; the Crossley twins, Faith Barnes and Harry Hill all gained triple distinctions in BTEC Sport and Business.

Staff have been working tirelessly informing pupils of their results and also working with those who need to finalise their University arrangements. With over 100 pupils nervously awaiting their exam results, it’s been a morning of great relief and joy as many pupils confirm their University destinations. Not many pupils will be traveling further to University than Archie Davies, who will be attending East Tennessee State University on a prestigious golf scholarship. This comes just weeks after Archie was crowed Welsh Amateur Champion.

As we reflect on another successful year, it is important we celebrate our successes; whether its in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage or elsewhere. We look forward to welcoming pupils on Wednesday 4th September as we begin another exciting year here at Sedbergh School.
