Sedbergh took a ten-strong contingent up to Blair Atholl for the Scottish Long Range Championships where they shot with iron sights at 900 and 1000 yards on a beautiful range in the Caringorms against adults from all over the country.
The Year Nines and Tens gained a great deal of experience coping with the wind at long range and there were some noticeable successes for all year groups.
Freddie Cade (H, Year 9) put in an impressive score of 74/75 at 900 yards and came second in the Lyell whilst William Ross (S, Year 11) won the Saturday Aggregate, ‘The Horatio Ross’ trophy after narrowly missing out on the Montrose Corporation after at tie shoot at 1000 yards.
Over the whole weekend, William Ross placed 4th, one V-bull ahead of Katherine Fleck (L, year 13). William was the top shot among the school entrants.
