SEDBERGH INTERNATIONALS TRAIN HARD OVER CHRISTMAS

While many students nationwide were looking forward to settling down over the festive break with long lie-ins, copious amounts of chocolate and their favouriteboxsets, some Sedbergh students were fine-tuning their sporting skills at international sports camps.

Ella Bowen was involved in two England U17 netball camps.

Tom Lanni, Rhys Tait and Cameron and Oliver Melville all trained with the Scotland U18 rugby camp, while Michael Cooke went to the Ireland U18 camp and Carwyn Tuipulotu was part of the Wales U18 camp.

The rugby camps were in preparation for international fixtures coming up later this year. The squad sizes will be reduced when the final squads are announced.

Director of Rugby Simon Mulholland said that he was very proud of the players who had been named in the international squads.

He said, ‘At Sedbergh we have a very long and proud history of producing schoolboy rugby internationals and it is great to see that the players’ outstanding individual form for school has been rewarded with international honours.

‘They all thoroughly deserve this opportunity.’Separately, former Sedbergh pupils Cameron Redpath and Josh Hodge have been selected for the England U20 elite rugby squad.
