SEDBERGH PUPILS JOIN NATIONAL YOUTH CHOIRS OF GREAT BRITAIN

Two pupils from Sedbergh School and Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School, are celebrating winning places in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

Amelia Horan, Year 9, is a former chorister at Ripon Cathedral and followed her brother James to Sedbergh – James, Deputy Head of School, also in the National Youth Choir.

Ed Gray, 11, who attends Sedbergh Prep School, won a place in the Boys’ Choir after his recent audition in Carlisle and Amelia was one of four senior pupils who auditioned at Gateshead.

The NYCGB vision is to be the most inspirational and innovative organisation for young singers in the UK.

They create exceptional performance opportunities and provide inspirational teaching and guidance, and enthuse young people from all backgrounds in the joy of singing.

Youth Choirs provide opportunities for children aged 9 to 22, with a Chamber Choir for young professionals and those studying to become professional singers up to age 25.

They meet twice each year for residential courses and encourage regular choral singing during the rest of the year.
