Sedbergh School Apprenticeship Scheme

At Sedbergh School we are committed to the development of everyone in our School community, both in their formative educational years and beyond.  Our purpose is the growth of the individual, whether that is our pupils or our staff. We are passionate about encouraging everyone to learn to be themselves and even more than they thought they could be. Our ethos (challenge, innovation and inclusivity) goes beyond the classroom and boarding houses and defines who we are as an employer.

“I am delighted to grow and further develop our apprenticeship scheme which will allow us to expand the range of opportunities available to young people within our local community who are at the start of their careers.

The training and mentoring they receive will enable them to develop their skills and work towards a recognised qualification which will, in turn, enable them to secure long-term employment. Sedbergh   School recognises our responsibility to help young people who wish to work and live in the National Park and this is an excellent opportunity to continue to build a skilled local workforce and future managers in all areas of our operations.”

“I am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship experience within Sedbergh Preparatory School. All the staff have been very welcoming and enthusiastic about my education, supporting me greatly throughout and guiding me when making pathway decisions. My apprenticeship has also enabled me to gain qualifications in my industry, as well as giving me confidence in my ability to work with a wide range of people and continue with my career progression”.
Equine Apprentice

Since we first introduced our apprenticeship scheme, we have been delighted with the achievements of past and present apprentices across numerous departments here at Sedbergh School. From award- winning painters and decorators and qualified electricians to nursery practitioners who are now part of our management team.
