Sedbergh School Celebrates “best ever” A-Level Results

Sedbergh School celebrates the efforts and achievements of our Upper Sixth pupils who have received their A-Level and BTEC results today.

2022 saw the return of external examinations, following two years of teacher assessed grades. We are delighted to announce that these are the best ever set of externally assessed A Level and BTEC results, with 88.6% of grades achieving A*-C grades.  The A*-B rate was 63.0% and the A*-A rate was 36.8%. Against the last external examinations in 2019, our value added scores 0.7 grades higher.

Sedbergh School Headmaster, Mr Dan Harrison, has shared his delight saying; “These results compare favourably even with the Teacher Assessed Grades of 2019 and 2020, and are a remarkable achievement, and we are very proud of our pupils and staff.”

James T was our top performer this year, achieving 3 A* and will head to Durham University to read Natural Sciences, where he will be joined by Rosie P, who will be reading Anthropology and Sociology. A number of our pupils who combined BTEC and A-Level subjects have also done exceptionally well this year, with out-going Netball Vice-Captain Holly S achieving AADi (A A Distinction) and out-going Equestrian and Running Captain Alicia N achieving A, Di*, D, they both move on to study in Liverpool and Newcastle respectively.

84% of applicants have secured either their Firm or Insurance place at university, with 3% gaining entry to University through Clearing. Our fantastic Sixth Form team are working with any remaining applicants to secure their next steps.
