Sedbergh School 1st XI claimed the Under 18s National T20 Championship title at Arundel Castle cricket ground, Sussex, on Thursday, 29th June, beating the best school cricket teams from the North, South, West and Midlands regions.
More than 200 schools enter this competition and Sedbergh, T20 North of England champions, beat Millfield School (West), Shrewsbury School (Midlands) and Merchant Taylor’s Northwood (South) on finals day.
Martin Speight, Cricket Professional at Sedbergh School, said: “The boys put in two near faultless displays of T20 cricket and the thing that amazed everyone was the power that we hit the ball with and the spirit of the team in the field.
Seven out of the team, plus Harry Brook, are upper sixth, leaving five to carry the success forward and build on this title. For the majority of the squad, they have come through the school, either from the prep school or coming in at Year 9 and 10; they have put in the work over a long period of time.”
