Sedbergh School Named BSA Finalist 2021

We are delighted to have been announced as a finalist at the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) Awards 2021, in the ‘Boarding House Extension or Refurbishment’ category.

We have been recognised for our work over the last 12 months, in converting our old Sixth Form block building into our newly refurbished boarding facility named ‘Nightingale’.

This spacious and modern boarding facility was designed to provide a safe place where pupils may need to isolate, should they contract Covid-19. The boarding facility, with bespoke single bedrooms, bathrooms, a large living area and catering facility, is staffed by Assistant Housemaster, Mr Ridley, who is there to ensure the best pastoral care for our pupils.

The refurbishment operation took place over the summer, to ensure the facility was ready for when term started back in September 2020. As well as having a safe space for pupils who contract Covid-19, Nightingale also provides space for our international pupils who have needed to complete a mandatory quarantine period, before entering into their regular boarding house.

This is the second consecutive year we have been named finalists at the BSA Awards. Last year, we were honoured to win the ‘Best Community Work’ award, rewarded for our ‘genuine commitment to helping others’. Deputy Head at Sedbergh School, Ms Lotte Tulloch, shared her joy at winning this award.

“This is a wonderful recognition for the hard work of our pupils, in their continued commitment to putting others before themselves and recognising their privilege.” Said Ms Tulloch.

The results for this year’s BSA Awards are to be announced from 5pm GMT, on Wednesday 05 May 2021.
