SEDBERGH SCHOOL NAMED SPORTS SCHOOL OF THE YEAR

Sedbergh School have been named the Independent School of the Year for Outstanding Sporting Achievement in the Independent Schools of the Year awards.

Following a year of success both on and off the pitch, we are thrilled to be the recipient of this prestigious award from Independent School Parent magazine.

Headmaster, Dan Harrison, said; ‘I am delighted that we have received this award. It is the culmination of many hours put in by our staff and pupils throughout the year and our philosophy of always wanting to challenge ourselves and not to be afraid of travelling to play the best in the country. We strongly believe that our pupils must go out of their comfort zones and not be afraid of failure, but to learn from it.”

The awards were created by Independent School Parent magazine to celebrate student experience in independent schools. The judging panel was chaired by DrHelen Wright, Education Advisor and David Moncrieff, Vice-Chair and Head of the Independent School Parent Editorial Advisory Board, as well as leading figures across the education sector.

Independent School Parent magazine said; ‘We were overwhelmed by the response to our inaugural awards. The Outstanding Sporting Achievement category was highly competitive, so it is an incredible achievement for Sedbergh to have won.’

In 2018, Sedbergh was placed in the top 10% of schools in Britain for the progress pupils made between GCSE and A level. The same pupils achieved International, National and Regional titles in Rugby, Athletics, Netball, Shooting, Equestrian (Dressage, Arena Eventing and Show Jumping), Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Golf, Taekwondo and Lacrosse.
