SEDBERGH SCHOOL RETURNS TO THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS SHOW, LONDON

Sedbergh School returns to host a stand at the Independent Schools Show in Battersea Park, London, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November. This major event has global acknowledgement as the ultimate forum for parents to meet the biggest names in British education.

Sedbergh, along with other leading schools, will gather for the world’s biggest open day and parents will be able to meet Assistant Headmistress and Head of Girls’ Boarding, Lotte Wright, a Morehead Cain scholar and English teacher.

The show, which runs from 10am – 5pm on Saturday and 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sunday, covers schools from 3+ to 16 + entry and parents can meet Sedbergh School staff and find out about Sedbergh Prep, which is just a 10 minute drive away from Sedbergh near the elegant Georgian market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, the subject of John Ruskin’s work.

Sedbergh, in Cumbria, is well placed for attracting families living in London and has become increasingly popular for this market in recent years. Situated only 7 miles from the mainline West Coast railway station, Oxenholme The Lake District, a direct train journey from Euston takes 2 hours 40 mins and the School is just over one hour’s drive or train journey from Manchester Airport.

A private school taxi service is available for airport and train station drop-offs and collections and the school offers parents opportunities to get involved with school life through sports fixtures (home and away support from parents all over the country and world is phenomenal), black tie balls, formal and informal concerts, drama productions, and charity dinners.

Being situated in such a beautiful, rural location, many families enjoy spending time in the town when visiting for boarding tasters or to attend school events.

If you do attend the show, the Education Theatre programme offers a wide range of lectures, including Deciphering Senior School Entrance and Standing Out from the Crowd, The Great Co-Ed Debate, Choosing the Right School for your Child, and When Boarding is Right for Your Child. Dr Sarah Wynick, a Consultant Child Psychiatrist, and Laverne Antrobus, Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist, will discuss providing support for your changing child, learning to cope and nurturing achievement.

Standard Tickets cost £10 on the door or are free in advance. Premium Tickets cost £50 and offer reserved seats at the talk of your choice, access to the VIP area, Premium goody bag and parking space. Visit www.schoolshow.co.uk for more information.
