SSFC donates £20,000 to South African charity Connect Sports Academy

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our rugby tour of South Africa had to be cancelled and there is a huge sense of disappointment for the squad, staff and our supporters, especially for those who have now come to the end of their time at Sedbergh.

Part of any sports tour is to learn more about the host nation and one of the most important things we set out to achieve as a tour group was to raise money for the Connect Sports Academy, an amazing South African charity based in Cape Town that we believe in and wanted to support. We are delighted to be able to announce that £20,000 has been raised, more than we ever could have hoped!

Connect Sports Academy helps support the lives of young, local children and provide opportunities for them to unlock their potential both on and off the sports field.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all SSFC players, parents and sponsors for their incredible efforts in helping to raise this money.

We recently launched our virtual presentation ceremony to mark this special occasion. You can hear from outgoing SSFC captain, JJ, as well as newly appointed 20/21 captain, Louie, as they speak with Mr Mulholland. We are also delighted and honoured to have a special interview from South African Rugby Sevens icon, Seabelo Senatla as he chats to Old Sedberghian, and World Cup winner, Will Greenwood.
