YEAR 8 TO YEAR 9 TRANSITION

Welcome to Year 9 at Sedbergh School! Our Senior Deputy Head Pastoral, Dr Burns, Head of Year 9, Mrs Killgren and Director of Sport and Extra-curricular Activities, Mr Oliver, explain what you as the parents and families of our new Year 9 can expect and look forward to in September. They offer their observations, experiences and advice on how to get the most out of this first important year at senior school.

DR JENNY BURNS

Dr Burns is Sedbergh School's Senior Deputy Head Pastoral, and is responsible for safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and pastoral care in the senior school. Dr Burns oversees the work of our nine boarding houses, medical team, school counsellor and wellbeing coordinator, and she teaches French and Spanish to A Level in the Modern Languages Department.

Sedbergh Senior School - Stuart Oliver

Stuart Oliver

Stuart Oliver is the Director of Sport and Extra- Curricular Activities at Sedbergh School.  Stuart oversees the successful running of our sports programmes, adventures activities and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as well as teaching GCSE & A-Level PE.

Stuart is also the Housemaster of one of our boys houses, Sedgwick House. He has just finished his 18th year at Sedbergh.

Alexia Killgren

Mrs Killgren is the Head of Year 9 and has been in charge of the academic monitoring of the Year 9 pupils for 6 years. Along with the Housemasters and Housemistresses, Alexia oversees the Year 9 Tutors, helping the year 9 pupils to settle and to support their learning. Alexia teaches English to A Level and plans and delivers the Year 9 PSHE programme.
